Optus: Clever Buoy

Optus Clever Buoy Campaignboard.jpg

Background:

We had a brutally simple brief: Make the intangible (Optus Network), tangible.

The solution was an incredible marriage of customer insight with technology.

This marriage was delivered in the form of the world’s first, smart ocean buoy aptly named: Clever Buoy.

It detects sharks and sends real time alerts to lifeguards via the Optus Network.

This is probably when you should click on the video case study to see how it works if you haven’t already.

Results:

We’re in phase two of conditional testing, which is a step closer to making this concept a reality and seeing it deployed in the ocean here and around the world in the near future.

Having said that, Clever Buoy has generated interest world over and has been featured in over 800 global news stories with combined PR & Social reach of over 40 million.

It has been awarded at all major international award shows including: SXSW Internet of Things, Spikes Asia Innovation Grand Prix, WARC Grand Prix for Innovation, D&AD, IAB Mixx, One Show and LIA, to name a few.
